Active PDC lightning protection system installation at Rundāle Palace
Rundāle Palace is one of the major baroque palaces built for the Dukes of Courland in what is now Latvia. The palace was built during the XVI century.
It is a great architectural and cultural important palace, located in Pilsrundale, 12 km west of Bauska (Latvia).
The palace is one of the major tourist destinations in Latvia. It is also used for the accommodation of notable guests, such as the leaders of foreign nations. The palace and the surrounding gardens are now a museum.
INGESCO, as a Lightning protection systems specialized company (SPCR), carried out the design and structure protection of the palace.
The calculation of the risk of damage in a building of those characteristics it must be according to the IEC 62305-2 (Annex A - UNE 21186:2011) standard.
The most important loses in those characteristic buildings after human losses are the cultural, historic and architectural looses.
In that way, two INGESCO PDC 5.3 installations were needed for a complete external lightning protection, according to the current Lightning protection standards.
