As a downward leader approaches from a storm cloud, the INGESCO® PDC.E 60 RT ESE lightning rod detects the increase in the atmospheric electric field and stores energy in its capacitor. When the electric field reaches a critical level, the atmospheric accelerator releases the stored energy, generating an upward leader of ions that creates a preferential path to channel the lightning discharge to earth, preventing it from striking the protected area or structure.
The INGESCO® PDC.E 60 RT incorporates a dual ESE system: a capacitive circuit using the latest technology and an atmospheric accelerator that generates the upward leader. The system has been tested by LABELEC (High Voltage Laboratory accredited by ENAC under No. 307/LE681 in accordance with ISO 17025) and verified under natural field conditions.
Its key distinguishing feature is its remote testing system via Bluetooth. Using the INGESCO mobile app, available for iOS and Android, users can independently carry out periodic checks on the air terminal and instantly obtain diagnostic information, the battery level and the test result, with geolocation of the installation. Users retain full control over the lightning rod’s status, without intermediaries or the need to dismantle the equipment.
The device’s performance is defined by Δt, which represents the triggering time advance compared with a conventional lightning rod and enables its protection radius to be calculated in accordance with NF C 17-102:2011, UNE 21186:2011 and NP 4426:2013.
