The Cerro Dominador Solar Thermal Plant is a 210MW power plant that combines concentrated solar power with photovoltaic energy
The complex www.cerrodominador.com consists of a 100MW photovoltaic (PV) plant and the first solar thermal plant (solar power concentration) in Latin America, with 110 MW of capacity and 17.5 hours of storage, it saves the emission of 240 thousand ton Co2 ton per year.
In total the solar field of the complex reaches 1,000 hectares and is located in the commune María Elena, province of Tocopilla, Region II of Antofagasta, Chile.
The EIG Global Energy Partners project, built by ACCIONA-ABENGOA, invites us to participate in the process of reviewing, designing and manufacturing of the materials for the construction of the Atmospheric Discharge Protection System.
SOLUTION
INGESCO, as a company specialized in Lightning Protection Systems, participated in the ATACAMA project for the protection against lightning of the CERRO DOMINADOR complex, by executing:
- Review, design, choice of materials and manufacture of the necessary elements for the construction of the lightning protection system in accordance with IEC 62305-3.
- To highlight the special manufacture of products with non-conventional materials that are highly resistant to corrosion given the high temperatures to which the receiver of the complex will be exposed.
